Energy Strategy 2050 was developed last year, Sergey Tsivilyov noted

MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Russia retains its goal to boost the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to 100 mln tons by 2035 amid the Western countries’ sanctions pressure on the sector, the Energy Ministry said.

"Speaking about specific results, Minister (Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilyov - TASS) noted that Russia retains goals on boosting the production of liquefied natural gas to 100 mln tons by 2035, which will enable the country to take up to 20% of global market of this fuel," according to a statement following a meeting of the community council at the ministry.

Energy Strategy 2050 was developed last year, the minister noted, adding that the document is currently on the government’s approval.

According to figures provided by the national statistics service Rosstat, Russia’s LNG production amounted to 34.7 mln tons in 2024, which is 5.4% higher than in 2023.
