Norilsk Nickel CEO believes Bank of Russia should keep key rate at current level

According to Vladimir Potanin, "inconsistency is the most undesirable in this matter"

MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. Businessman, CEO of Norilsk Nickel, Vladimir Potanin believes that it would be better for the Bank of Russia to keep its key rate at the current level.

"I would keep it [the rate] as is, because it is better to keep it now than to raise it again after some reduction. I believe that inconsistency is the most undesirable in this matter. It is better to have a tough, but understandable consistent line," he told TASS on the sidelines of the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).

The Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia will consider the key rate at its upcoming meeting on March 21. At the previous meeting in February, the regulator's board of directors decided to keep the key rate at 21% per annum.
