MOSCOW, March 12. /TASS/. Sound approaches to establishing mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia will carve their way in the West some time or other, with the dawn of realization of such a necessity already being evident in a number of countries of the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting of the Business Council at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"We have no doubt that sooner or later sound approaches to establishing mutually beneficial fair cooperation with Russia will also carve their way in countries, whose governments are taking unfriendly, or frankly speaking, hostile steps against us now. The dawn of realization of such a necessity can be seen in some of those countries already now," the minister said.
He also warned against relying on the good will of today’s enemies, who have set a task of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, including "on principle."
"First, the experience of communicating with the West has already taught us not to believe its promises and messages, but to judge solely by specific practical actions. Second, I think that the recent years have imparted a very good lesson on us, which taught us to prevent a situation when key sectors of our economy, our finances, our technological sector will depend on a whim of Western suppliers," Lavrov noted.
