Moscow Exchange to launch trading on weekends in pilot mode on March 1

According to the press release, the maximum permissible change in the price of a security will be 3% of the closing price of the previous trading day

MOSCOW, February 24. /TASS/. The Moscow Exchange will launch trading on weekends in a pilot mode on March 1, the platform said in a press release. Trading will be conducted as part of an additional session.

"At the first stage, the most liquid shares will be admitted to weekend trading. To reduce volatility risks and ensure liquidity, price boundaries during weekend trading will be narrowed - the maximum permissible change in the price of a security will be 3% of the closing price of the previous trading day - and will not change," the statement says.

As stated in the press release of the Moscow Exchange, on March 1, from 02:00 p.m. to 02:10 p.m. Moscow time (11:00 a.m.-11.10 a.m. GMT) the opening auction will be held, and from 02:10 p.m. to 07:00 p.m. Moscow time (11:10 a.m. - 04:00 p.m. GMT) the trading period will be held.

On March 2, the opening auction will be held from 9:50 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Moscow time (6:50-7:00 a.m. GMT), the trading period will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m. Moscow time (07:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. GMT). It was previously reported that the Moscow Exchange will ensure technical readiness for the start of weekend trading by March 1, 2025.
