MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. Passenger flow of Moscow airports increased by 9% in January-February 2024 year-on-year to 10.3 mln people, according to a statement released on the Telegram channel of the city’s transport department.
"Passenger flow of Moscow airports exceeded 10.3 mln people in January-February, which is 9% higher than in the same period in 2023. According to [Moscow Deputy Mayor] Maksim Liksutov, Sheremetyevo Airport was the leader in terms of growth of the number of passengers. On domestic flights their number rose by 19% compared with January-February 2023 to 4 mln. On international flights passenger flow totaled almost 1.8 mln, up by 45% compared with the first two months of last year," the statement reads.
In January 2024 when many people went on holiday, Sochi, St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad were the most popular destinations of Russian airlines from Moscow airports. Istanbul, Phuket and Dubai were the top three international destinations of Russian airlines in January 2024.
"We register a stable growth of passenger flow of airports of the Moscow aviation hub. People have started travelling more, including across the country. The number of passengers on domestic flights gained 5% in January and February compared with the same period in 2023, while on international flights the growth reached 18%," Liksutov said.
