Putin expects grain harvest to reach 143-147 mln tons in 2024

The Russian leader stated that it is impossible to measure harvests in new regions because the statistics are still different

MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin made a forecast for the grain harvest for 2023 at the level of 143-147 mln tons, he said on Tuesday.

"Last year, Russia had its largest grain harvest in history, totaling 156 mln tons. Russia continues to confidently hold first place in the world in wheat sales on global markets," Putin stated.

"This year [the grain harvest will be] 143 mln tons, but if we count new territories - plus another 4 mln tons, then it will be 147 mln tons," he said.

The Russian leader stated that it is impossible to measure harvests in new regions because the statistics are still different. "But it doesn’t matter if without new territories [we have] 143 mln tons, it is a very good indicator," Putin added.
