TOKYO, December 20. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Japan and Russia fell by 37.13% in November 2023 year-on-year to 119.105 bln yen (or around $827.5 mln), according to TASS’ calculations based on data released by the Japanese finance ministry.
Exports from Japan to Russia lost 60.9% to 20.232 bln yen (or around $154.3 mln), while imports decreased by 26.7% to 96.873 bln yen (around $672.5 mln).
A decrease in imports of Russian coal by 67.1%, as well as a 44.9% drop in supplies of cars to Russia and Japanese spare parts and components by 32.5% amid sanctions against Moscow were the main factors behind the contraction of trade turnover. Energy resources and transport vehicles account for over 69% of total trade turnover.
