Trade turnover between India, Russia reaching $35 bln in 2022 — Ambassador

It is highlighted that Indian exports to Russia have regrettably "dropped dramatically"

NEW DELHI, February 2. /TASS/. The trade turnover between Russia and India reached almost $35 bln from April to December 2022, India’s Ambassador in Moscow Pavan Kapoor said on Thursday.

"On the trade front we've had some challenges because of the payments, logistics, insurance issues that we've come across, since the variety of sanctions had been imposed on Russia, but we have had massive increase in our trade," the Ambassador said.

"As a result from April to December [2022], bilateral trade has actually moved up to almost 35 billion dollars already. It is primarily because we've been buying a lot of crude oil and, of course, fertilizers from Russia," the Indian diplomat noted.

Indian exports to Russia have regrettably "dropped dramatically," Kapoor said. "We also have to make our trade more balanced," he added.
