MOSCOW, October 18. /TASS/. There are still no plans for blocking the YouTube video hosting in Russia, the press service of the Digital Development Ministry’s press service said on Tuesday.
"On September 28, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev said at a meeting with regional journalists that "we still have no plans for closing YouTube."
"This statement remains the most relevant so far, there is no new information," the press service said.
Earlier, the press service of the Federation Council said that the accounts of the upper house of parliament had been blocked on YouTube due to sanctions, and all videos were deleted. The channels had over 200,000 subscribers and 20,000 videos. The accounts published live broadcasts of meetings of the Federation Council, committees, congresses and forums, comments by senators on topical issues, and educational programs on the history of the Russian state, the press service added.
Later, Russia’s telecommunications watchdog addressed the US company Google, which owns YouTube, with a demand for restoring access to Federation Council accounts.
