Russia’s aluminum production to gain 11% by 2030 compared to 2021 to 4.36 mln tons

It is reported that supplies to other countries may lose 2.1% in 2022 to 2.36 mln tons

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russia’s aluminum production is expected to increase by 11% by 2030 compared with 2021 to 4.36 mln tons, according to draft strategy for development of the country’s metals industry (obtained by TASS).

The base-case scenario suggests a reduction of production in Russia in 2022-2025 compared to 2021. In particular, output will equal 3.77 mln tons in 2022 compared to 3.93 mln tons in 2021, 3.78 mln tons in 2023, 3.85 mln tons in 2024, and 3.93 mln tons in 2025.

Similar dynamics is expected in exports of the metal. Particularly, supplies to other countries may lose 2.1% in 2022 to 2.36 mln tons, and another 2.6% in 2023 to 2.29 mln tons, whereas an increase in exports to 2.43 mln tons is projected in 2030.

That said, domestic consumption in Russia in 2022-2023 will also be below the 2021 level, though it is expected to recover starting 2024. In 2021, consumption amounted to 1.547 mln tons, whereas it is expected to reach 1.549 mln tons in 2024, and to rise by 26.5% to 1.96 mln tons by 2030.
