Gazprom supplies 42.1 mln cubic meters of gas for Europe through Ukraine

The application for transit through the Sokhranovka station was rejected by Ukraine

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Gazprom supplies 42.1 million cubic meters of natural gas for Europe through Ukraine through the Sudzha metering station, Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov told reporters, adding that the application for transit through the Sokhranovka station was rejected by Ukraine.

"Gazprom supplies Russian gas for transit through Ukraine in a volume, confirmed by the Ukrainian side, through the Sudzha metering station: 42.1 million cubic meters as of June 25. The application for the Sokhranovka metering station was rejected," he said.

Earlier, the Transmission System Operator of Ukraine said that the gas transit through Ukraine on June 25 may amount to 42.1 million cubic meters.

On May 10, the Transmission System Operator of Ukraine stated that gas transit through the Sokhranovka metering station will be suspended due to force majeure: the company is allegedly unable to monitor the border Novopskov compressor station in the Lugansk Region. In this regard, Ukraine will reject gas transit applications and will not accept gas through this station.

However, Gazprom sees no grounds for suspension of transit, saying that it received no confirmation of this force majeure. In response to the Transmission System Operator’s proposal to shift the entire transit volume to the Sudzha gas distribution station in the Kursk Region, Gazprom stated that this would be technically impossible due to specifications of the Russian streaming scheme.

Gazprom also said that the Russian sanctions, imposed on a number of foreign energy companies, bar the corporation from using the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline for transit through Poland.
