Two sections of Senate Palace roof damaged in drone hit to be replaced quickly — Kremlin

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, Kiev attempted to deliver a drone strike on the official residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin inside the Kremlin grounds

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. Two sections of the copper panel roofing covering the Senate Palace building within the Kremlin complex received minor damage from the drone attack on the Kremlin in the early morning hours on Wednesday, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"I’m aware from our property management department that two sections of the copper panel roofing covering the [building’s] dome were ripped up" in the incident, Peskov noted, saying that they will be replaced as early as "today or tomorrow."

"Everything will be just like new," he pledged, clarifying that no further damage was done.

Yelena Krylova, a spokeswoman for the Kremlin property management department, told TASS that the two copper panels would be replaced by Friday.

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, Kiev attempted to deliver a drone strike on the official residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin inside the Kremlin grounds, the presidential press service reported at midday on May 3. Personnel from the Russian military and security services swiftly disabled the two enemy devices. Putin was unharmed and continues to work according to his usual schedule.

The Kremlin regards the incident as a premeditated terrorist attack and an assassination attempt on the Russian leader. Russia retains the right to take retaliatory measures when and how it sees fit.
