MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. The United States is creating forward military forces to strengthen its influence in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, Chief of the Russian General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov said at the Moscow Conference on International Security on Wednesday.

"The US is employing the practice of creating forward military forces not only in Europe but also in other parts of the world, including the Asia-Pacific region, to strengthen its influence," the Russian military chief stressed.

The Moscow Conference on International Security has been held annually since 2012 under the auspices of the Defense Ministry of Russia. The forum consistently strengthens its role of a reputable venue for discussing the most pressing issues of international security and traditionally evokes great interest both in Russia and abroad.
