MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. "Anna’s War", a film directed by Alexey Fedorchenko, has received a prestigious Russian film award Nika for Best Picture, TASS reports from the award ceremony.
Earlier, the film received the Russian Golden Eagle award. The picture tells a story of a 6-year-old girl Anna, whose family dies in 1941 during the Nazi extermination of local Jewish population. The girls manages to survive and hides in the disused chimney at the Nazi commandant’s office for two years. Young Russian actress Marta Kozlova played the title role.
The thirty-second national award ceremony Nika, organized by the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Science, is taking place in Moscow on March 30.
Serebrennikov's victory
Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov has received the Nika film award for Best Director for his work on the film "Leto", TASS reports from the award ceremony.
Serebrennikov is currently under house arrest in Russia on charges of embezzling budget funds. The film "Leto" was included in the program of the 71st Cannes Festival.
"Our film has been quite successful. I sincerely hope that this is the last time when great artist Kirill Serebrennikov fails to collect his own award," the film’s producer, Ilya Stewart, said while receiving the prize on Serebrennikov’s behalf.
