ROME, October 10. /TASS/. The official signing ceremony for an agreement on the Gaza Strip between Israel and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas is planned for October 13, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani told the RAI-3 broadcaster, adding that Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was expected to attend the event.
"A major official signing ceremony for the agreement will take place on Monday, and I think that the Italian prime minister will be in attendance; the Egyptian foreign minister informed me that she has been invited," said Tajani, who participated in a Paris meeting on Palestine on Thursday.
Earlier, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated that if a ceasefire agreement was reached during talks in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh, US President Donald Trump should be present at its signing ceremony.
Indirect talks between the delegations of Israel and Hamas resumed in Sharm el-Sheikh late on October 6, with Egypt, Qatar and the United States acting as mediators. Hamas and Israel have already exchanged, through the mediators, the lists of hostages and prisoners who are expected to be released under the Gaza deal.
