TEL AVIV, June 16. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed a missile launcher near Tehran in response to the latest Iranian attack on Israeli territory, along with Iranian troops, the army press service reported.
"In a rapid response, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) identified and eliminated surface-to-air missile launch troops seconds before they reached a launcher south of Tehran. The troops were eliminated and the launcher was dismantled," the statement said.
The army noted that the goal of the strike was to further gain air superiority over Iranian territory.
Overnight into June 13, Israel kicked off Operation Rising Lion aimed against Iran’s nuclear program. Less than 24 hours later, Iran launched a retaliatory attack. In the following days, Tel Aviv and Tehran exchanged strikes again. Both sides reported casualties resulting from these attacks and acknowledged hits on several targets within their territories, though they claimed the damage was limited.
