BELGRADE, March 17. /TASS/. Serbia will not descend into a color revolution modeled on Kiev's Maidan, President Aleksandar Vucic said following Saturday’s large-scale protests.
"I am very proud of how the Serbian state has preserved stability and peace despite numerous efforts at destabilization," Vucic wrote on his Instagram page (banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation). "A replica of the Maidan will not succeed. Serbia will triumph."
Mass anti-government protests took place in Belgrade on Saturday. According to the Serbian Interior Ministry, the number of participants exceeded 100,000. Protests with varying intensity have been ongoing in Serbia since November 2024, when a canopy collapsed at the railway station in Novi Sad, killing 15 people. The protesters hold the country's government responsible for the tragedy.
