DUBAI, December 27. /TASS/. Yemen's Houthi rebel movement Ansar Allah has carried out a "hypersonic ballistic missile" at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport, the group's spokesman Yahya Saria said.
"The Yemeni missile forces conducted a special military operation, attacking Ben Gurion Airport in the occupied Jaffa (Tel Aviv - TASS) neighborhood with a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile. The missile reached its target, the operation resulted in casualties and the suspension of navigation at the airport," the Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV channel quoted the spokesman as saying.
Saria also said the group's drone strike destroyed a "critical target of the Israeli enemy" near Tel Aviv. According to him, the attack came in response to an Israeli strike on Houthi-controlled Yemeni territory. "The armed forces have capabilities that allow them to expand the list of targets in occupied Palestine to include more critical enemy targets. Our operations will continue until the aggression in Gaza stops," he added.
On Thursday, Israeli aircraft attacked Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen. Massive strikes targeted Sanaa airport and the seaports of Hudaydah and Ras Isa. One of the strikes targeted the large Ras Kanatib power plant in Hudaydah. According to the latest reports, six people were killed in the strikes.
With the conflict in the Gaza Strip escalating, the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement announced that it would conduct strikes on Israeli territory and block pro-Israeli vessels from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until Tel Aviv ceases its military operation in the Palestinian enclave. The Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since mid-November of last year.
In response to Ansar Allah's actions, US officials announced the formation of an international coalition and the preparation of Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protection of ships in the Red Sea. As a result, UK and US forces began regularly attacking rebel military facilities in various provinces of Yemen.
In recent weeks, the Houthis have regularly reported rocket attacks on central Israel, including the cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon. On December 21, Israeli servicemen recorded the launch of a missile from Yemen into Israel. The missile was not intercepted, the Israeli army reported. At least 30 people were injured in the incident.
