Iran expects ‘decisive action’ from EU in regards to Israeli strike at consulate in Syria

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian once again put the responsibility for the escalation in the region on the US, which provides support to Israel

DUBAI, April 4. /TASS/. Iran expects "real and immediate action" from the EU in regards to the Israeli strike at the consulate in Syria, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a phone call with EU High Representative Josep Borrell.

"We expect a decisive condemnation of this crime, as well as real and immediate actions in this regard," the Minister said, according to the Foreign Ministry statement.

Abdollahian once again put the responsibility for the escalation in the region on the US, which provides support to Israel.

On April 1, the Syrian news agency SANA reported that Israel’s Air Force had conducted a strike on a building in Damascus. Iranian media outlets said that Iran’s consulate was the target of that attack. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that the strike had killed seven military advisors, including General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and General Mohammad Hadi Haji-Rahimi. According to Iran’s government-run IRIB TV channel, Zahedi commanded the IRGC’s Al-Quds Force units in Lebanon and Syria.
