UKMTO says vessel attacked off Yemen’s coast

The attacked ship has not been identified

LONDON, March 8. /TASS/. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has informed about another attack on a vessel off the Yemeni coast.

"UKTMO has received a report of an incident 50NM (nautical miles - TASS) southeast of Aden, Yemen. The master reports two explosions ahead of the vessel. The vessel and crew are reported safe. Authorities are investigating. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKTMO," the notice said.

The attacked ship has not been identified.

Following the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Ansar Allah movement warned that they would carry out strikes on Israeli territory and would bar any ships associated with the Jewish state from sailing across the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave ended. Since mid-November 2023, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. In response, the United States, alongside its allies, launched Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protection of vessels. Despite the coalition’s steps, the attacks have not stopped.
