The ship was reportedly contacted by people, who identified themselves as the Yemeni Navy and ordered it to change its course

LONDON, March 6. /TASS/. A US bulk carrier travelling under a Barbados flag was damaged in an attack of unknown assailants in the Gulf of Aden. According to Ambrey, a British company specializing in maritime security, the crew is currently embarking on rescue lifeboats.

According to the company an Indian Navy ship is underway towards the ship. Previously, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which was the first to announce the incident, reported that the ship is receiving assistance from the coalition forces carrying out Operation Prosperity Guardian on ensuring the safety of navigation in the Red Sea.

The attack on the bulk carrier occurred at 11:40 Moscow time 54 nautical miles southwest of Yemen’s Aden. The ship was reportedly contacted by people, who identified themselves as the Yemeni Navy and ordered it to change its course.

Nearby ships heard a loud explosion and saw a plume of smoke, UKMTO said, adding that the authorities are investigating the incident.".
