BEIJING, February 26. /TASS/. The Chinese authorities urge the British side to stop using sanctions related to Russia against companies of the People’s Republic of China for the sake of maintaining trade and economic relations between the two countries, the Ministry of Commerce of China said in a statement.
"We strongly urge the British side to immediately correct the mistake that has been made, and unquestioningly stop putting Chinese enterprises on sanctions lists for the sake of maintaining the overall situation in the Chinese-British trade and economic relations," the statement reads.
London’s unilateral actions will negatively influence the relations between the two countries, the ministry noted. "China will definitely protect legal rights and interests of its companies," according to the statement.
London "ignores the positive dynamics" that appeared in the course of the British-Chinese cooperation, the ministry noted. "Those are unilateral sanctions that are not based on the international law. They have not been approved by the UN Security Council - this is a typical case of long-arm jurisdiction," the statement said.
On February 22, the UK expanded the list of anti-Russia sanctions by adding fifty positions. The British restrictions were also imposed against three Chinese companies, including Finder Technology, JUHANG Aviation Technology, and Beijing Micropilot Flight Control Systems. London suspects them of exporting high-tech components to Russia that are used for the needs of the special military operation.
