MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. Russian servicemen helped the International Atomic Energy Agency hold a safe staff rotation of its observer mission at the Zaporozhye nuclear Power Plant, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Russian servicemen at all times complied with the ceasefire that was announced for the period from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. along the route starting at the point where the observers were designated to cross: the ruined bridge near the settlement of Kamenskoye. When inspecting the road in the area of the crossing, Russian servicemen detected unexploded munitions that were left over from renewed regular shelling by Ukrainian forces in close proximity to the ZNPP," the ministry said.
According to the ministry, even though there were undetonated explosive objects, Russian servicemen made sure the IAEA mission members crossed safely and reached the plant.
"The mission includes four inspectors. Their task is to monitor and assess the safety status of the Zaporozhye NPP. IAEA experts have been present at ZNPP since September 1, 2022, following the first visit of the agency's Director General Rafael Grossi to the plant," the ministry added.
