CARACAS, January 9. /TASS/. The government of Venezuela supports South Africa’s appeal to the UN International Court of Justice over Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip and the "genocide of the Palestinian people," the Foreign Ministry of Venezuela said on its X page.

"The Bolivarian republic of Venezuela praises the historic step, made by South Africa on December 29, 2023, against the state of Israel in the International court over this country’s violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide," the Ministry said.

"The latest UN reports mention over 21,000 people killed since October 7, 2023, mainly women and children, which proves the inhumane actions of the state of Israel," the statement reads.

The Foreign Ministry called on international justice bodies to condemn those "guilty of genocide," "aggression against humankind and the Palestinian people" in accordance with international law.
