Ceasefire, Gaza settlement to be main topics of OIC summit — Erdogan

"The sensitivity of the Islamic countries to the Palestinian cause is well known, and there is much we can do to ensure a ceasefire and a lasting peace," the Turkish leader noted

ISTANBUL, November 10. /TASS/. The main topic of the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on November 12 in Saudi Arabia will be an early ceasefire and the settlement of the crisis in the Gaza Strip, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on his return from the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tashkent.

"The main topic of this summit will be the war between Israel and Palestine. We will gather there to discuss all the details and hold talks to ensure a humanitarian ceasefire as soon as possible. We will focus on what each of the OIC member countries can do, what the Gulf countries can do, what those outside the Gulf countries can do. That is why I attach great importance to the meeting in Riyadh. The sensitivity of the Islamic countries to the Palestinian cause is well known, and there is much we can do to ensure a ceasefire and a lasting peace. We must take action in a way that is decisive, effective and serves peace," the Anadolu news agency quoted Erdogan as saying.
