No plans for Putin’s visit to Turkey, Erdogan’s visit to Moscow at this point — Cavusoglu

It was noted that Ankara "does not want further escalation," but the current situation suggests that new hostilities will follow

ANKARA, April 10. /TASS/. There are currently no plans for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Turkey or for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Moscow right now, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on TV Monday.

"Currently, there are no plans for Putin’s visit to Turkey or for Erdogan’s visit to Moscow. However, our president engages in active diplomacy. He holds frequent phone calls with Putin and also communicates with [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky," the minister said.

Cavusoglu also noted that he "sees preparations for a major offensive in Ukraine."

"We observe that both countries, both Russia and Ukraine, are preparing for very large offensive actions. Both sides concentrate manpower and vehicles," he said.

The minister noted that Ankara "does not want further escalation," but the current situation suggests that new hostilities will follow.

"The war negatively affects neighboring countries. But, despite all that, we were still able, for example, to begin the implementation of the grain deal, and we work towards the settlement in other ways as well. I believe that the sides should realize that there will be no winner in this war. In particular, European officials voice the same opinion," Cavusoglu said.
