BELGRADE, March 10. /TASS/. The president of Republika Srpska, one of the two constituent entities within the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reaffirmed during a meeting with the Russian ambassador that Republika Srpska won’t join anti-Russian sanctions.
Milorad Dodik met with Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov in Sarajevo on Friday.
"Republika Srpska’s stance on anti-Russian sanctions remains unchanged, and its constitutional stance must be respected in this regard," Dodik wrote on Twitter, publishing a joint photo with the Russian diplomat.
Moreover, the president of Republika Srpska informed the Russian ambassador about Sarajevo’s attempt to seize the republic’s property.
"I informed Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov about attempts to seize property of Republika Srpska. This matter was settled by the Dayton Agreement, and this property is rightfully owned by the entity," the president wrote.
Dodik said on many occasions in the past that his entity will not impose sanctions on Russia, despite pressure from the European Union and the United States.
In turn, the current Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljka Cvijanovic said the three-member governing body remained divided on anti-Russian sanctions. She said the other members of the Presidency - Croat member Zeljko Komsic and Bosniak member Denis Becirovic - personally support anti-Russian restrictions.
