CHISINAU, February 27. /TASS/. Transnistria’s President Vadim Krasnoselsky said there was no tangible threat to the unrecognized republic following the Russian Defense Ministry’s reports about possible military provocations on the part of Ukraine.
"He described the situation as tense while calling for calm and reiterating his presidential axiom: in the event of a real threat to the people he will personally and immediately notify them," the press service reported on the Transnistrian president’s Telegram channel on Monday following a meeting on the situation at Transnistria’s external perimeter. The statement urges people not to panic and notes the importance of being ready for any development.
Last week, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that in the near future, the Kiev regime was plotting a false flag against Transnistria using units of Ukraine’s armed forces and nationalists from the Azov battalion (outlawed in Russia). The military agency specified that a staged attack by Russian troops from Transnistria would be used as the pretext for the invasion. Later, the Russian Defense Ministry also reported a substantial accumulation of Ukrainian personnel and military equipment near the Ukrainian-Transnistrian border. Moldova’s authorities asserted that they did not see any direct security threat on the border with Ukraine.
