MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Russia insists that an unequivocal signal be sent to Kiev warning against sabotaging, otherwise there are risks of repeating the fate of the Minsk agreement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.
"We once again strongly call on those who directs Kiev’s actions, and we know who they are, to finally admit their responsibility for security in Europe, for the future world order, for obeying by the principles of the United Nations Charter. Russia is ready for this conversation but to have real progress, but not what looks like progress, we insist that an unequivocal signal be sent to Kiev not to indulge in sabotaging. Otherwise we are running the risk to repeating the fate of the Minsk agreements. We will never agree to that."
He stressed that Russia is alarmed at Ukraine’s request for a referendum in case an agreement on Ukraine’s security guarantees is reached. "We are also alarmed that the Ukrainian side has decided to insist that in case an agreement I am speaking about is signed combat operations be stopped within several days, Russian troops leave Ukraine and a referendum be organized. There is a big probability that when this referendum gives a negative answer, the negotiating process will have to be started anew. We don’t want to play such cat-and-mouse games," he explained.
"Let me stress once again: we don’t want the fate of the Minsk agreements be repeated and we cannot allow it," he added.
