YEREVAN, March 21. /TASS/. Armenian Foreign Minster Ararat Mirzoyan has informed his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, about Yerevan’s position on the issue of peace treaty negotiations with Baku, the press service of the Armenian foreign ministry said on Monday after their telephone conversation.
"Ararat Mirzoyan has informed his Russian counterpart about the Armenian side’s position on the issue of launching the negotiating process to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan and within this context, he stressed the role of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs," it said.
According to the ministry, the Armenian top diplomat told Lavrov about the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in Nagorno-Karabakh "following Azerbaijan’s provocations and ceasefire violations."
The two foreign ministers also discussed the process of normalizing relations between Yerevan and Ankara.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly said that following the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the autumn of 2020, his government is ready to open an era of peace in the regions. To reach these objectives, Yerevan plans to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and normalize its relations with Turkey.
