Present-day world stems from failed attempt to build relations after Cold War — Putin

Russian President pointed out that the attempt to establish a stable world system after the end of the Cold War on the basis of the West’s dominance has not crowned with success

SOCHI, October 21. /TASS/. Mankind has a possibility to create a system of international relations without any bloodshed while the present-day world order is a result of a failed attempt to do this after the Cold War period, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club on Thursday.

"Political history, perhaps, still does not know examples of a stable world system being established without a big war and not on the basis of its results as was the case after World War Two. So, we have a possibility to set an extremely favorable precedent," the Russian leader pointed out.

"As we see, the attempt to do this after the end of the Cold War on the basis of the West’s dominance has not crowned with success. The current state of the world is a result of this failure. We must draw lessons from this," Putin said.
