WASHINGTON, April 3. /TASS/. The National Hockey League (NHL) named the date when, according to its estimates, Russian superstar forward and Washington Capitals’ captain Alexander Ovechkin will beat Wayne Gretzky’s record.
On its website, the NHL said the new record may be set overnight to April 14, in the game against Columbus Blue Jackets.
Earlier in the day, Ovechkin scored another goal in an NHL game against Carolina Hurricanes.
He is now second in NHL history with 892 goals, trailing only the Great One himself Wayne Gretzky of Canada, who had 894 goals in his NHL career. His team still has seven games to play before the season ends.
