Russia’s Gergiev, Trifonov proposed for Grammy Awards in classical nominations

The 60th Grammy Award ceremony is due in New York on January 28

NEW YORK, November 28. /TASS/. Russian conductor Valery Gergiev has been proposed for the Grammy Award for the Best Opera Recording. The list of nominees was published on Grammy’s official website on Tuesday.

Gergiyev was nominated for the recording of Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Golden Cockerel as performed by the Mariinsky Theater. His co-nominees are Vladimir Feliauer, Aida Garifullina and Kira Loginova and producer Ilya Petrov.

In the category Best Classical Instrumental Solo Russia’s nominee is 26-year-old Daniil Trifonov with Transcendental Etudes by Franz Liszt, recorded and released as an album.

The 60th Grammy Award ceremony is due in New York on January 28, 2018.
