Latest poll shows 80% of Russians trust Putin

A total of 53% of those polled said they approved of the Russian government’s handling of the country, while 56% approved of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s performance

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. The level of trust in President Vladimir Putin among the Russian public stays at 80%, with the same percentage of respondents approving of his job performance, according to a survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM).

The poll, carried out between February 14-16, surveyed 1,500 respondents. "When asked directly if they trusted Putin, 80% of participants responded affirmatively (no changes). The majority also endorsed of the president’s job performance (80%, no changes)," the service said.

A total of 53% of those polled said they approved of the Russian government’s handling of the country (no changes), while 56% approved of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s performance (a 1% decrease).

Support for the ruling United Russia party held steady at 44% (no changes). Support for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) remained at 8%, while the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) rose by 1% to 9%. The A Just Russia-For Truth party’s support remained unchanged and stood at 3%, while support for the New People party decreased by 1% to 2%.
