MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Moscow’s Basmanny District Court has ruled that Antonina Favorskaya, the Sova Vision media outlet’s journalist whose real name is Kravtsova, be taken into custody on charges of involvement in extremist activities, a TASS correspondent reports.
"The court hereby upholds investigators’ request that Kravtsova be taken into custody," Judge Yelena Lenskaya said.
The court hearing on the request took place behind closed doors. During a break, Favorskaya slammed the charges as "absurd."
The journalist will remain in custody until May 28. The court’s ruling has not taken effect yet; Favorskaya’s defense team plans to file an appeal.
Earlier, Favorskaya was apprehended after exiting the Sakharovo detention center where she had served an administrative arrest for disobeying a police officer. The journalist is charged with participating in the activities of the FBK organization, labeled as extremist and dismantled in Russia.
