EU is studying effect of Russian fertilizer import — European Commission

Grain and fertilizer imports from Russia are not in sanction packages against Russia so far, Olof Gill noted

BRUSSELS, March 11. /TASS/. The European Commission (EC) is studying the effect of Russian fertilizer and grain imports on the European Union’s market and is assessing the need for taking measures, EC spokesman Olof Gill said at a press conference.

"We are looking closely at the facts, we are monitoring the flow of these products, how they affect our market, how they may or may not affect our farmers in particular," the spokesman said. "We will continue looking at these impacts and if facts dictate that further steps may be necessary, we will look at those potential steps," Gill said.

Grain and fertilizer imports from Russia are not in sanction packages against Russia so far, the EC spokesman noted. "That’s have been the position until now," he added.
