Russia about to surpass threshold of 30,000 COVID cases a day — deputy PM

According to Tatiana Golikova, 67 Russian regions are reporting COVID-19 incidence growth

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russia is about to surpass a threshold of 30,000 daily confirmed coronavirus cases, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said on Tuesday.

"Incidence growth commenced with a high daily tally of 20,000 and more cases. Notably, the average daily tally has never exceeded 30,000 during all incidence growth periods. Now, we are about to surpass this negative threshold," she said, adding that 67 Russian regions are reporting COVID-19 incidence growth.

According to the latest statistics, around 235.5 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 4.8 million deaths have been reported.

To date, 7,637,427 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 6,759,059 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 211,696 fatalities nationwide. The Russian government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the coronavirus situation.
