Russian diplomats spare no effort to resolve issue with Franchetti, says Kremlin

According to Dmitry Peskov, all possible assistance at this stage is being provided to Alexander Franchetti, including legal help

MOSCOW, September 15. / TASS /. Russia’s diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic is making every effort to resolve the situation with its national Alexander Franchetti, who was arrested in Prague, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday, noting that the detainee was being provided with all the necessary assistance, including legal support.

"Our embassy in Prague is closely involved in this issue. All possible assistance at this stage is being provided, including legal help. I repeat once again, the Russian diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic is doing its utmost," Peskov stated.

As the Kremlin spokesman noted, he has no information yet, whether the Russian president’s administration received a letter from Franchetti's sister, asking to return her brother to his homeland. "I have not seen this letter yet," Peskov mentioned.

On Sunday, the Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic stated that Franchetti had been detained at Prague’s international airport. Media reports said that the Russian’s detention could be linked to his active participation in the 2014 events around Crimea’s reunification with Russia.
