Foreign Ministry confirms Lavrov, Syrian opposition coalition head to meet January 12

MOSCOW, January 10. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed plans on the upcoming meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and leader of the National Coalition for Syrian Opposition and Revolutionary Forces Ahmed al-Jarba.

“January 12-13, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Paris to have a series of contacts within preparations for the Geneva II Peace Conference on Syria due to take place in Montreux on January 22. On January 13, the Russian minister will confer with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. The meeting will be held within a tripartite format, with the involvement of U.N./LAS Special Envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi,” the ministry said.

“Sergei Lavrov will also have talks with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, the Syrian coalition opposition leader and the Jordanian counterpart,” it added.
