Another special flight with 100 evacuated Russians from Gaza Strip lands in Moscow

An Il-76 plane has landed at the Domodedovo Airport

MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. Another group of Russian citizens, evacuated from the Gaza Strip, arrived in the Russian capital of Moscow on Sunday morning, the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s press office said in a statement.

"An Il-76 plane, operated the Russian Emergencies Ministry and carrying a group of Russian citizens and members of their families, has landed at the Domodedovo Airport," the statement reads. "The special flight of the Russian Emergencies Ministry brought home 100 more of our compatriots."

Since the start of the humanitarian mission to evacuate Russian citizens and their family members from the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Russian Emergencies Ministry dispatched 11 special flights bringing home 1,051 people, including 473 children, the ministry added.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion into Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 200 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly.

Hamas described its attack as a response to the Israeli authorities’ aggressive actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
