St. Petersburg starts implementing three mega projects — governor

One of them will be a high-speed tramway line to connect two St. Petersburg districts and the city of Pushkin with the subway lines

ST. PETERSBURG, July 30. /TASS/. St. Petersburg has initiated implementation of three mega projects in the transport and infrastructure sphere, Governor Alexander Beglov said at the meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

"I would like to report the progress in your assignments. Three mega projects you instructed to implement. We started building the long-awaited Neva crossing - the Great Smolensky Bridge," Beglov said.

This is the first large bridge across the Neva River to be built in forty years, the governor said. "This is a six-lane one, with the tramway track, and the swing-span one. Residents of both the right and the left banks of the Neva are looking forward to it. We allocate the money from the budget of our city, are already passing the expert review, will end it in November and will start building this bridge in December. Our plans are to complete it in 2027," the governor noted.

Construction of the Latitudinal Highway is also important for the city, Beglov said, adding that the project is scheduled for completion in 2030.

The third project is a high-speed tramway line to connect two St. Petersburg districts and the city of Pushkin with the subway lines, Beglov added.
