MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is holding negotiations with his Zimbabwean counterpart Amon Murwira in Moscow, a TASS correspondent reported.
The republic’s embassy in Moscow earlier reported that Murwira had arrived in Russia on a visit.
Moscow and Harare maintain an active bilateral political dialogue. In June 2024, Zimbabwean leader Emmerson Mnangagwa visited Russia and attended the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In an interview with TASS, the Zimbabwean president stated that his country was interested in joining BRICS and having direct flights with Russia. According to him, Zimbabwe also sought Russia's collaboration in the fertilizer sector. These topics are likely to be on the agenda of the foreign ministers' meeting. In March 2024, the Russian side also supplied Zimbabwe 25,000 tons of wheat and 23,000 tons of fertilizers.
