Russia transfers vehicles, operational equipment for training Cuban firefighters — embassy

HAVANA, December 29. /TASS/. Russia has supplied Cuba with several pieces of critical operational equipment to be used in training at the Regional Russian-Cuban Center for Training Fire and Rescue Specialists in Havana, the Russian Embassy in Cuba stated on Thursday.

"At the Regional Russian-Cuban Center for Training Fire and Rescue Specialists, a solemn ceremony was held marking the transfer to the Cuban side of a humanitarian consignment of specialized [firefighting] equipment and domestically [Russian] produced gear, delivered to the island through the channels of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO)," a report posted to the Telegram channel of the Russian diplomatic mission to Cuba said.

In attendance at the event were Russian Ambassador to Cuba Viktor Koronelli, Cuban Interior Minister Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas, and fire truck drivers and firefighting specialists who completed training courses in handling the equipment provided.

"It is noteworthy that we are concluding this year at the Regional Russian-Cuban Center for Training Fire and Rescue Specialists, which is one of the symbols of our relations, friendship and cooperation. Congratulations to all those who will use and operate these machines. I would like to congratulate their drivers who have completed advanced training courses under the guidance of Russian instructors," Koronelli said.
