EU hurts itself with its sanctions against Russia — Russian lawmaker

According to Leonid Slutsky, sanctions against members of the Russian Central Election Commission and a number of Russian television channels can be considered "interference in elections and blatant censorship"

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. The European Union continues its economic aggression against Russia with its 12th package of sanctions while interfering in elections and imposing censorship, but Brussels is only hurting itself, Chairman of the Russian State Duma's (lower house of parliament) International Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky told TASS.

"With the 12th package of anti-Russian sanctions, the EU is continuing its economic aggression against the Russian Federation and shooting itself in the foot. Russia has already withstood all waves of Western sanctions and its economy is developing despite almost 18,000 restrictions. The same cannot be said about the European economy," Slutsky said.

At the same time, according to him, sanctions against members of the Russian Central Election Commission and a number of Russian television channels can be considered "interference in elections and blatant censorship".
