Ukraine’s attempted counteroffensive failed — Russian foreign intelligence chief

Sergey Naryshkin noted that "the strategy of the Ukrainian authorities and the Kiev regime remains the same - to continue hostilities and not to hold any negotiations with Russia"

MINSK, December 14. /TASS/. The director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergey Naryshkin, has called Ukraine’s attempted counter-offensive in 2023 a complete failure.

"They (counteroffensive attempts - TASS) failed. We qualify this as complete failure. Ukraine has not achieved any successes on the battlefield. It has suffered tangible, to an extent irreparable losses in manpower and military equipment," he told the media on the sidelines of the 19th meeting of the heads of CIS security and intelligence services in Minsk.

At the same time, the SVR chief noted that "the strategy of the Ukrainian authorities and the Kiev regime remains the same - to continue hostilities and not to hold any negotiations with Russia."

Naryshkin said in this regard that Russia's goals remained unchanged.

"Russia must eliminate all factors that threaten its security. Number one condition for this is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine and its non-aligned and neutral status," he concluded.
