UNITED NATIONS, September 24. /TASS/. For the first time since the United Nations was founded in 1945, the global community has got a chance to truly democratize the international affairs, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the general political debate of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations.
"Well, a chance for true democratization of global affairs has emerged for the first time since the United Nations was founded in 1945," the minister said. "This is a source of optimism for all those who believe in the rule of the international law and want the United Nations to regain its role of the central coordinating body in the global politics."
In his words, "evidently, there is no other way for Russia."
"At the same time, the United States and its Western subordinates continue to incite conflicts that artificially split the humanity into hostile blocs and prevent it from achieving our collective goals," Russia's top diplomat added.
According to Lavrov, the United States and its allies "are doing their best to prevent the creation of a truly multi-polar, fair world order and try to make the world to observe its own self-serving rules.".
