MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Russian forces struck Ukrainian army units in the Krasny Liman area, employing TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrowers with thermobaric warheads, Spokesman for the Battlegroup Center Alexander Savchuk reported on Monday.

"TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower systems inflicted damage by thermobaric shells. The enemy sustained manpower and equipment losses," the spokesman said in a video released by Russia’s Defense Ministry.

In the area of the settlement of Chervonaya Dibrova, Russian forces uncovered the movement of Ukrainian personnel and military hardware, following which they delivered strikes on the enemy targets. The enemy sustained manpower and equipment losses, the spokesman said.

The TOS-1A Solntsepyok (Scorching Sun) is a flamethrower system based on the tank’s chassis. The flamethrower fires 220mm rockets with a thermobaric warhead. The Solntsepyok is designated to incinerate and destroy enemy manpower, combat hardware and fortifications with an enhanced blast.
