Russia to get observer status in Central American Integration System soon — Lavrov

MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. Russia will soon receive observer status in the Central American Integration System, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a news conference on Thursday following talks in Moscow with Nicaraguan counterpart Denis Moncada Colindres.

"We have good relations with the Central American Integration System, where Russia will soon receive observer status. The corresponding agreement is ready," Lavrov said.

"I would also emphasize the good relations between our State Duma deputies and senators and the Central American parliament," he added.

The Russian top diplomat also pointed out that Moscow is in favor of further promoting dialogue and cooperation with the leading associations of Latin America and the Caribbean. "First of all, I mean the associations of Latin American and Caribbean states, which unite all countries of this large and rapidly developing region," Lavrov added.
