Russia urges US to constructively respond to North Korean signals — diplomat

"We are convinced that in order to prevent extremely dangerous developments, it is necessary to immediately begin concrete steps to reduce military activity in the region, including large-scale military drills," Maria Zakharova said

MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. Moscow calls on Washington to constructively respond to Pyongyang's signals and also points to the need to immediately start taking concrete steps to de-escalate the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"We call on the US to constructively respond to the signals sent by Pyongyang. We are convinced that in order to prevent extremely dangerous developments, it is necessary to immediately begin concrete steps to reduce military activity in the region, including large-scale military drills," she said.

North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister for International Organizations Kim Song Kyung earlier said that the escalation of the situation on the Korean Peninsula was caused by provocative actions of the US and South Korea, while the UN turned a blind eye instead of demanding them to stop aggravating the situation.
