Russian diplomat blames Kiev for blocking talks with Moscow on US orders

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that Russia had always stood for dialogue but Ukraine had legislatively blocked the negotiation process back in September 2022

MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. The Kiev regime blocked talks with Russia on orders from the United States, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told RBC.

"The Kiev regime, guided by the United States, blocked the talks it had initiated," she said, commenting on Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zhang Jun’s call for a ceasefire and peace talks.

Zakharova pointed out that Russia had always stood for dialogue but Ukraine had legislatively blocked the negotiation process back in September 2022.

In his address to a UN Security Council meeting on Friday, Zhang Jun called on Russia and Ukraine to establish a ceasefire and launch peace talks as soon as possible. The envoy added that the US and NATO needed to engage in dialogue with Moscow to ensure indivisible security.
